Janice Coles, speaker
Jan grew up in a Christian home in southern New Jersey, the daughter of a dairy and crop farmer. Her parents’ examples of endurance in difficulty, combined with their healthy work ethic, left an indelible impression on her. At age 15, Jan heard the plan of salvation preached in her local church and accepted Christ as her Savior.
A godly business man and his wife discipled Jan and encouraged her to enroll in Bob Jones University where she majored in Home Economics Education with a minor in Composite Science. Of her 20 years of teaching experience, the three years on the faculty of Bob Jones University were the most gratifying.
When Jan was forced to leave classroom teaching due to illness, she began teaching private piano lessons. She was well prepared for this task, having taken lessons as a child and as a student at BJU. As a pianist/organist, she considers it an honor to accompany a congregation who “will sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with [them]” (Psalm 13:6).
Jan has been happily married to Walt Coles for 56 years, and she has served as a pastor’s wife for 55 years. During those years, Jan has organized monthly ladies’ fellowships, conducted ladies’ Bible studies, and spoken in local churches, youth camps, and on foreign mission fields. They are currently serving at a church in North Carolina, where Walt is the interim pastor. Jan and Walt are the grateful parents of Cheryl and Jeff and grandparents of Carly, Christopher, Dylan, and Amannda.
